We offer a comprehensive range of tree care services, including tree trimming, pruning, tree removal, stump grinding, emergency tree services, tree risk assessments, plant health care, tree inventories and tree health assessments.
Professional tree care ensures the health, safety, and aesthetic appeal of your trees. Proper pruning can prevent disease and promote growth, while timely removal of hazardous trees can protect your property and loved ones.
The frequency of pruning depends on the type, age, and health of the tree. Generally, most mature trees benefit from pruning every 3-5 years, while young trees may need more frequent shaping and structural pruning.
We do our best to leave your lawn looking the way we found it. Many of the jobs we do don't require heavy equipment, however ruts and divots in the ground are hard to avoid with jobs that require heavier equipment. We do offer lawn protection mats to minimize damage. Weʼve also found that discontinuing irrigation up to 2 weeks prior to service will leave the ground drier and more firm contributing to fewer ruts. We have highly skilled climbers available when we need to avoid use of heavy equipment. If you have any underground areas of concern, please take the time to flag those areas in advance so that we can avoid any potential damage.
We have many customers with a long list of tree and plant health care items – many choose to divide their projects into different phases to ease the financial burden. We are happy to track planning with you in a timely fashion so that you can afford to get done what needs to be done. Consequently, it may be wise to place priority on higher risk items. Again, this is something we can help you to determine. We also offer financing through Wisetack. Click HERE to learn more.
Our arborists are trained to look for tiny buds that non-trained contractors may not know to look for.
We accept cash, checks, credit cards, debit cards and ACH payments. Our credit card processing company charges a 2.9% fee with all digital transactions. You will need to check with your bank to determine if they charge any fees.
Plant Health Care (PHC) is scheduled differently than pruning and other tree work. Many PHC treatments are scheduled very deliberately at specific times of the year. Our plant health care manager will contact you with scheduling details.
Our owner Nick Simons is a Certified Arborist. He's also Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. He can come to your property to complete a tree inventory and a risk assessment. He will then create a proposal with recommendations.
While often used interchangeably, trimming usually refers to cutting back overgrown branches or hedges for aesthetic purposes, whereas pruning is a more targeted approach focused on the tree's health, structure, and safety, often involving the removal of dead, diseased, or hazardous branches.
While minor trimming of small branches might be manageable for homeowners, extensive pruning, especially on larger trees, should always be left to certified arborists. Improper pruning can severely damage a tree's health and stability.
Tree removal is usually recommended when a tree is dead, diseased beyond recovery, poses a significant hazard to property or people, or is obstructing new construction.
Stump grinding is the process of using a specialized machine to grind a tree stump down to below ground level. This eliminates the unsightly stump and allows for new landscaping or planting in its place.
Stump grinding is an additional service, as not all clients require it after a tree removal. We offer it as a separate option to customize our services to your needs.
The cost of our services varies depending on several factors, including the type of service, the size and location of the tree, its condition, and accessibility. We offer free, no-obligation estimates after an on-site assessment.
During an estimate, a certified arborist will visit your property to assess your trees and discuss your needs. You do not have to be present unless you want to be. Our arborist will provide a detailed quote and answer any questions you may have. You can schedule an estimate by contacting us at (574) 313-1414.

TESTIMONIALS
I will tell you Michael was great and answered all my questions. He and his team cleaned up everything very well. I really appreciate their diligence and knowledge. I won't say it was cheap but you get what you pay for and I am hoping for a very long life for the pin oak.
We’ve been with Hartwood Tree Care for a couple of years now and couldn’t be happier with the service and care we’ve received. Everyone we’ve interacted with has been professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their craft.
HartWood is a first-class operation, from the owner and other tree specialists to the receptionist to the crews that do the physical work. And the pricing is reasonable. Highly recommended.
Very much appreciated the service and knowledge from Nick, Tanzie and his team. They are very thorough and cleaned up everything upon completion. Also his partnering with Noah to remove the tree stump was so convenient. Thank you very much.
From the first call to follow through after HartWood has been amazing! We had an electrical wire that needed to come down to complete service and they handled everything for us!
HartWood was by far the most reasonable company we found. On top of that, they were great, and their work was top-notch. We would recommend Nick and his crew for sure.
